Obama’s security picks: Steamed over Rice, power

The Issue: President Obama’s choice of Susan Rice and Samantha Power for top foreign-policy positions.

Ralph Peters notes how Susan Rice’s appointment as national security adviser marginalizes John Kerry as secretary of state (“O’s Cynical Picks,” PostOpinion, June 6).

He’s correct. The president only takes advice from himself and a handful of like-minded alter egos.

Kerry is doomed to share Hillary Clinton’s conceit: frequent-flier miles and physical exhaustion — touted as great accomplishments at State.

Meanwhile, Rice and Valerie Jarrett will stir the amateurish, naïve pot that is the president’s foreign policy.

Rice is the woman that he chose to go on talk shows and lie to the American public about a video causing the attack in Benghazi, so I have to wonder: What is the meaning of taking responsibility when it comes to Democrats in office?

Lois Lerner won’t testify, and her punishment is paid leave. Clinton took full responsibility for Benghazi, and she leaves office with no punishment for her failure.

Now Rice lies on behalf of the administration and gets promoted.

So what is all this about a “level playing field” and that everyone abides by the same set of rules?

Arrogant Obama has once again demonstrated his utter contempt for the American people by appointing Rice.

Her recent and extensive history of lying is widely known to all those who are not willfully blind.

If only Obama could muster the ferocious disregard for the sensibilities of the politically correct enablers of radical Islam that he routinely shows for Fox News and Rush Limbaugh, we would not be the international laughingstock that we have become under his “leadership from behind.”

Domestic critics of Obama cross a red line when they point to his lack of transparency, general ineptitude and big-government extremism. Rice is payback.

But dangerous enemies can cross Obama’s red lines with impunity, even when those lines are written in the blood of their own citizens.

Isn’t it obvious that Obama’s appointment of Rice as national security adviser proves that the voters made a terrible mistake in reelecting him? Rice is Obama’s “trusted adviser” who lied to the world about Benghazi.

The stealth takeover of America is almost complete, while we sleep.
