FDNY firefighter busted for attacking, robbing NYPD cop

One of New York’s Bravest was busted for attacking and robbing one of New York’s Finest, police sources said.

Veteran firefighter Angel Valerio was arrested after he and a group of buddies beat up and mugged an off-duty cop in Queens, sources said.

Valerio, 30, and three friends were coming out of a T.G.I. Friday’s on Austin Street after a boozy night on the town when the group bumped into the cop at around 11:45 p.m. Sunday as he was walking home from work, sparking a dispute.

The victim identified himself as a police officer, but the drunken smoke-eater and his cronies followed the cop as he tried to walk away and attacked him, sources said.

The officer dropped his backpack after one of the brutes punched him in the face, sources said. One of the suspects tried to scoop up the bag and run off, sources said, while another tried to grab the officer’s gun.

The posse eventually fled, leaving the officer with minor injuries, sources said. He was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for scratches and bruises.

Investigators finally tracked Valerio and arrested him yesterday. He was charged with robbery, assault and attempted criminal possession of a weapon.
