Good to be ‘Bad’

The final eight episodes of “Breaking Bad” begin with a flashforward. Walter White (Bryan Cranston), his hair grown back, stands in front of his own house, but the property is condemned and fenced off, with a warning sign not to trespass. He takes a crowbar and gets inside the fence. Inside, the house is destroyed. Walt unscrews a switch plate and retrieves something. He comes outside and sees his neighbor unloading groceries from the trunk of her car. “Hi, Carol,” he says. The woman drops the brown bag, bottles rolling down the driveway, as if she’s seen a ghost. The action then shifts back to Walt and his wife, Skyler (Anna Gunn), working in a car wash, trying to put their bad lives behind them. Until one of Walt’s former “business associates” shows up, complaining sotto voce about the purity of the drugs she’s bought from him. Other highlights: Jesse (Aaron Paul) can’t get rid of $5 million in two black duffel bags, so he gives a wad of bills to a homeless man. Walt pukes into a toilet. Hank (Dean Norris) has a health scare, but he feels strong enough to punch Walt in the face. After moaning that his cancer is back, Walt tells him, “If you don’t know who I am, maybe your best course would be to tread lightly.”
