‘The Queen Latifah Show’ renewed for 2nd season

“The Queen Latifah Show” has been renewed for a second season on CBS stations, keeping the singer and actress on daytime TV through 2015.

The renewal sets up the syndicated talk-variety series to return with a broadcast clearance in 97 percent of the country.

“Queen Latifah,” produced by Sony Pictures Television, is the top new talker of the season among total viewers, beating out fellow newcomers “Bethenny” and “The Arsenio Hall Show.”

In New York, where it airs on WCBS at 9 a.m., “Latifah” posted the time period’s best ratings in 14 years last November in the advertised-preferred adults 25-54 demographic.

Next season will see the addition of a new daily talk show hosted by Meredith Vieira while Katie Couric’s syndicated program will not be returning. The second-season fates of “Arsenio” and “Bethenny” are not yet known.
