Medal of Honor for Lenny Kravitz’ uncle, 23 others

President Obama is posthumously awarding the Medal of Honor to Brooklyn-born Leonard M. Kravitz, whose heroics on the battlefield saved his comrades in Korea, and who never got to meet his famous nephew and namesake, rocker Lenny Kravitz.

He’s the only Jewish veteran of the 24 being honored, including several whose gallantry was uncovered under a program seeking out those who were denied the honor because of prejudice.

Leonard Kravitz, born in Brooklyn in 1931, died after a fierce fight in Yangpyong, Korea, in March 1951. He remained at a machine-gun position as it was overrun by the enemy.
