Chris Christie is a slam-dunk for another term as Garden State governor, according to Shaquille O’Neal.
“I don’t endorse many politicians. But Chris Christie is different,” the former NBA superstar said in a new endorsement urging voters to give the hard-hitting New Jersey pol a second go-round.
“He’s a good man,” said Newark native O’Neal.
“Excuse me, he’s a great man.”
O’Neal’s full-court press for Christie touts the governor’s jobs and education initiatives in the run-up to the Nov. 5 election.
“Gov. Christie’s provided more funding for schools, given parents more choices in what schools their kids can go to, and merit pay for good teachers,” O’Neal gushed.
Christie’s camp had courted celebrity endorsements, and O’Neal and the governor have teamed up on several recent New Jersey initiatives.
Last spring, the two held a powwow on the state’s gun-buyback program.
Earlier this month, the basketball star and Christie announced an after- school program aimed at keeping kids from getting involved in drugs and crime.
