Jets fans trash new quarterback Michael Vick

Who let the dog in?

Animal-loving Jets fans are foaming at the mouth over the signing of pooch-killing quarterback Michael Vick to the team — with some fans even vowing to abandon Gang Green.

“He electrocuted dogs in a bathtub for fun. I’m supposed to root for this guy?” growled Ryan Breslin on the Jets’ Facebook page. “As ashamed as I’ve ever been to be a Jets fan and that’s saying something.”

The Jets’ Facebook page was slammed by many angry salvos.

“JETS fan for 28 years. My father almost 60 years. We will not watch or support the team in any way this season,” wrote Amanda Sozio Bajek.

To that, the Jets replied, “We appreciate your passion for the Jets and ask for your continued support.”

Alan Kessler, of Queens, launched the Facebook page “Boycott the NY Jets & Michael Vick” and attracted more than 1,700 followers.

“I was a proud New York Jets fan, always have been, but this was an easy decision,” Kessler, 46, a Long Island cop and the page’s organizer, told The Post. “This just pushed us over the limit.”

“Michael Vick has no place in football,” he added. “He disgusts me.”

Animal-rights activists joined Jets fans in barking at the team for giving a $5 million deal to Vick, who spent 19 months in prison for his involvement in a dog-fighting ring.

A Jets spokesman said the team “performed its due diligence” prior to signing Vick, noting that team president Neil Glat called Wayne Pacelle, president and CEO of the Humane Society, before a decision was made.

“We welcome Michael Vick to our team,” said Jets owner Woody Johnson in a statement Friday. “We fully understand the gravity of some of his past actions, believe that he has paid his debt to society and taken advantage of his second chance.”

But New Yorkers weren’t biting — circulating several online petitions, one with more than 5,300 supporters, against Vick.

Other city animal rescuers begged residents to send letters and e-mails to the franchise.

Even the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals chimed in, tweeting: “In response to @nyjets news, let’s all remember #VickDogs this weekend.”

PETA addressed the football fury with one tweet: “At least Michael Vick can’t drown, electrocute, hang or shoot a football the way he terrorized man’s best friend.”
