Black smoke billowed south from the Ed Koch-Queensboro Bridge yesterday after a large truck burst into flames.
The semi was burning on the lower level of the bridge at 11 a.m. — shutting down the span and causing major traffic delays, authorities said.
The flames raged for just over two hours, at times hitting the ceiling of the lower level, while 60 firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze.
“Traffic in both directions will remain open using the span’s westbound roadways” while engineers check the structural integrity of the bridge, the DOT said.No one was hurt, the FDNY said.
