SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Grant Holman hit a grand slam to cap an eight-run fourth-inning, leading Chula Vista, Calif., to a 15-3 victory over Newark, Del., yesterday in the Little League World Series.

Holman’s homer ended the game because it provided the West Champions a 10-run lead through four innings. Micah Pietila-Wiggs homered and drove in four runs, and Michael Gaines had two hits, including a home run, and three RBIs.

Chula Vista (2-0) advanced to play Westport, Conn. (2-0), on Wednesday.

Jack Hardcastle had a two-run double to give Newark a short-lived lead in the first inning. Brandon Sengphachanh had a two-out home run in the fourth.

The Mid-Atlantic champions (1-1) will face Nashville, Tenn., in a U.S. loser’s bracket game today.

Japan 3, Taiwan 2

Takuma Gomi hit a two-run home run in the top of the sixth inning in Tokyo’s victory over Taoyuan, Taiwan.

Kyousuke Kobayashi got Chen-Hsun Lee to fly to center for the final out with a runner on first. Japan improved to 2-0, and advanced to face Mexico on Wednesday.

Ramon Mendoza hit two of Tijuana, Mexico’s five home runs in a four-inning win over Aguadulce, Panama in the winners’ bracket.
