Mediterranean food flair coming to Amsterdam

A long-vacant Upper West Side spot is about to get a new tenant.

Chef Cedric Tovar, who has most recently been consulting for Carlos Suarez at his restaurants Bobo and Rosemary’s, is opening his own restaurant, Tessa, at 349 Amsterdam Ave.

The prime 1,750-square-foot space spot has been a revolving door over the years, starting out as Spanish joint Acala in the ’80s, then Boomer’s sports bar and then the popular Time Out bar.

Tessa — named after the daughter of one of the owners, Larry Bellone, who is Italian — will be a Mediterranean-inspired tavern with Italian and French roots.

Tovar mentored under chef Eric Briffard at the Plaza Athénée in Paris. The other owner is restaurateur Will Tracy of Punch Restaurant and Bar.

One of Manhattan’s most anticipated restaurants, Le Bilboquet, will open in time for Fashion Week in early September.

The new Bilboquet bistro at 20 E. 60th St., from owner Philippe Delgrange, along with partners Ron Perelman, real-estate mogul Steve Witkoff and guitar legend Eric Clapton, will boast 100 seats — 60 more than the original.

Chef Julien Jouhannaud, a longtime alum of Alain Ducasse’s restaurants, will run the kitchen. The design is by Carolina Von Humboldt of CVH Interiors.

In other news: The Writing Room, at 1703 Second Ave., will open in the former Elaine’s space run by chef Lucas Billheimer and restaurateurs Michael and Susy Glick.

The menu will feature East Coast classics like a lobster boil and roasted herbed corn, with a curated cocktail program. Its name nods to Elaine’s notables Woody Allen and the late Norman Mailer.

Also, the long-awaited Belgian Beer Café Nomad, at 220 Fifth Ave., from chef Michael Sullivan, formerly of Chanterelle and Flex Mussels, is set to open late August or early September.
