Former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will host a fundraiser next month for Democratic mayoral candidate Bill de Blasio, his campaign announced Thursday.
Details were still being worked out.
“What’s the surprise? She’s a Democrat and he’s the Democrat most likely to win a major office that’s up for election this year,” said political consultant Jerry Skurnik. “Still, it’s a big boost.”
Last week, both Hillary and Bill Clinton endorsed de Blasio, who is leading Republican Joe Lhota in the polls by more than 40 points.
Hillary Clinton is mulling a run for the White House in 2016.
De Blasio served in President Clinton’s administration with the USÂ Department of Housing and Urban Development, and de Blasio also worked as campaign manager for Hillary Clinton’s successful run for USÂ Senate in 2000.
