Child dies after being hit by car in Brooklyn

A 5-year-old girl died after being struck by a car in Brooklyn Thursday.

Kiko Shao was hit at the intersection of 5th Avenue and 55 Street in Sunset Park around 3:30 p.m., cops said.

Witnesses said Shao was walking with her older sister and following their father when a white Cadillac Escalade playing loud music hit the younger girl as her older sister dodged the oncoming car.

The driver of the car got out of the vehicle and stood watch as EMS performed CPR to the kid for about five minutes, said Mohammad Isa, 23, who witnessed the aftermath. “I just saw his face, he looked devastated.”

“We just saw those two kids yesterday when I brought my daughter to school,” said Frank Xu, 40, who owns a game store nearby. “It’s just a sad tragedy.”

Shao was rushed to Lutheran Medical Center in cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead soon after, authorities said.

Police are investigating the incident.
