APPLE TOURIST BOOM LOOMS

Summer in the city is shaping up to be a good one for millions of tourists, who are expected to flock to the Big Apple in droves thanks to cheap air fares, half-price hotel rooms and discounted attractions.

Despite the worldwide economic meltdown, more than 12 million tourists are expected to visit New York City in June, July and August, according to estimates from the city’s tourism bureau, NYC & Company.

That’s only a 4 percent drop from last year and far better than experts had initially predicted. The optimistic estimates were reported in Crain’s New York Business.
