WILLIAMS IN MALL ARREST

DENVER – Nets forward Sean Williams was arrested yesterday and charged with criminal mischief, a felony charge, and disorderly conduct, stemming from an incident in a cell-phone store at a suburban mall.

Williams allegedly was involved in a verbal argument with a clerk in the AT&T Mobility Store in the Park Meadows Mall in nearby Lone Tree, according to Det. Sgt. Ron Pinson of the Lone Tree Police Dept.

“He then picked up a computer monitor and threw it inside the store. The monitor was broken and also caused damage to a printer and signature pad,” Pinson said.

Cops responded and Williams was arrested and taken without additional incident to the Douglas County Jail, where he was released after posting bail. Williams faces a court hearing today. Total damages to the store’s equipment were estimated at between $1,200 and $1,300. Because the damage was worth over $750, the criminal mischief rap is a felony.

“All I know is that there was an altercation and he was arrested,” said Nets team president Rod Thorn. “It’s in the hands of the authorities.”

The Nets did not provide a lawyer for Williams. Thorn said he had not spoken to Williams before last night’s game against the Nuggets.

It has been a curious season for Williams, who had been sent to the D-League earlier but was asked to return to the Nets by the Colorado team. And there was the recent incident were he was arrested for trespassing at Boston College. Those charges later were dropped by the Suffolk County (Mass.) D.A.’s office.
