Rep. Anthony Weiner’s on-hiatus mayoral campaign refunded more than $60,000 in contributions in the past few weeks – an amount that was more than what he raised for the period, records released yesterday show.
The bulk of the cash came from limited-liability corporations, from which candidates have been prohibited taking donations in the past two years.
Weiner took the money before the new law took effect.
The Weiner campaign didn’t immediately explain why it was giving back the donations.
