Bx. fire wipes out 7 homes

More than 30 people were left homeless last night when fire swept through a row of houses in The Bronx,

More than 200 firefighters battled the four-alarm blaze, which started at 1308 Findlay Ave. in Claremont at 9:20 p.m.

It quickly spread to six other homes on the block.

“I stood out on the back porch and called out to my neighbors, ‘Fire! Fire!’ ” said Eve Hobbs, 54, who lived in the building where the blaze started.

“I left everything in there. I just have to trust God.”

At one point, the flames became so intense that all firefighters at the scene were pulled out of the buildings.

One civilian, a 60-year-old man was taken to Lincoln Hospital with smoke inhalation. His injuries were not considered life threatening.
