Regis Philbin will be ab sent from “Live With Regis & Kelly” next month while he recovers from hip-replacement surgery.
Philbin, who’s in Las Vegas with co-host Kelly Ripa, made the announcement on yesterday’s show.
“I’m allowed to announce I’m going into hip surgery. I’m going to have my hip replaced. I’ve been limping around here. It’s really painful,” he said.
“We’re going to get that done on that Tuesday [Dec. 1], and I’ll be back next year.”
Philbin, 78, is expected to take four to six weeks off from the show while he recovers.
“Live” will use a rotating roster of guest hosts until he returns — including Howie Mandel, Michael Buble, Anderson Cooper and Christian Slater (next Tuesday through Friday).
