‘Lie’ plays poker

Still hungry after Thanksgiving dinner? Let Drama Mama suggest some good TV to gorge yourself on:

* “Lie to Me” (Monday, 9:01 pm., Fox): From the “Of Course! What Took Them So Long?” file comes this entertaining installment set at the World Series of Poker, with Tim Roth’s Lightman trying to read the faces of people who know how not to have their faces read. Master magician/cardsharp Ricky Jay guest stars.

* “Sons of Anarchy” (Tuesday, 10 p.m., FX): Mama was slow to rev up her engines for this series, but few shows have had sophomore seasons as outstanding as this one. Yes, “Sons” delivers scenes as brutal as anything we saw on its predecessor, “The Shield,” but at the show’s core is an incredibly heartfelt portrayal of a devoted and dysfunctional extended family. Each week, the rash decisions, power plays and devastating confessions have been motivated by the complicated inner struggles of the characters, not by plot necessities. And if you were willing to watch a bunch of overweight mobsters deal with their emotions, why not a motorcycle gang? With the gang seemingly putting aside their infighting and closing ranks around Gemma (future Emmy winner Katey Sagal), this week’s season finale is sure to pack a physical and emotional wallop.

* “Dollhouse” (Friday, 8 p.m., Fox): Before Fox puts “Dollhouse” in the attic for good, catch a two-hour chunk as the network burns off its 13-hour commitment. Most casual viewers will have jumped ship, but Joss Whedon devotees will likely stay tuned through the end to catch guest appearances by Whedon regulars Summer Glau and Alexis Denisof as well as perennial TV scene-stealers Ray Wise and Keith Carradine.

* “Law & Order” (Friday, 8 p.m., NBC): Benjamin Bratt returns to the show that made him famous as Detective Rey Curtis, either in honor of the 20th season or due to the fact that “The Cleaner” got canceled. Mama is afraid that Rey’s return is tied to Van Buren’s ongoing health issues, but she’s mostly hoping that Bratt has shaved off that ill-advised goatee.
