Dobbs suddenly courts amigos

He’s barely out of the gate as a possible White House hopeful, but Lou Dobbs is already flip-flopping like a seasoned pol.

The former CNN anchor — who branded himself a hard-liner on illegal immigration on his cable news show — is softening his stand since he started discussing a run for office.

Now, he’s taking to Spanish-language airwaves to insist he supports legalizing some of the nation’s undocumented workers.

In an interview with Telemundo, Dobbs — who was a target for many Latino groups because of his views — sought to take the edge off his anti-immigrant, anti-Hispanic image.

“We need the ability to legalize illegal immigrants under certain conditions,” Dobbs said on the Spanish-language network last Friday, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Dobbs — who quit his CNN gig two weeks ago — said that he is eager to work with the Latino community.

“Whatever you have thought of me in the past, I can tell you right now that I am one of your greatest friends and I mean for us to work together,” he said.

His sudden softening comes just days after he admitted in a radio interview that he’s been in discussions about a possible run for the White House.
