PSAL girls soccer round-up: Wishart’s hat trick lifts Midwood over Madison

Midwood wasn’t at full strength in its season opener Tuesday, a lopsided lost to defending divison champion Brooklyn Tech. Jessica Wishart, Annmaria Ingravallo and Thomas Jefferson transfer Serene Drakes, all midfielders, did not play because they had not participated in the mandatory eight practices.

The Hornets got their first look of what things will hopefully look like the rest of the way Thursday.

Wishart, who scored six goals a year ago, recorded a hat trick and added an assist for Midwood in a 6-0 win over James Madison in its home opener. Isabella Schaefer added two goals for the Hornets (1-1). Drakes had a goal and an assist. James Madison is 0-1.

Fort Hamilton 4, Abraham Lincoln 3: Jasmine Cardona had a hat trick to lead the Tigers to a 2-0 record. Christina Delisi chipped in a goal and an assist. Abraham Lincoln is 1-1.

Riverdale/Kingsbridge Academy 4, Herbert H. Lehman 0: Four different players scored for Riverdale/Kingsbridge (2-0) in Bronx A-1. Herbert H. Lehman is 0-2.

Bronx Science 8, Harry S. Truman 0: Alex Bushman, Nadine Penkovsky, and Taylor Murtaugh scored two goals apiece for the 3-0 Wolverines. Elizabeth Schaeffer added two assists. Harry S. Truman is 0-2.

Newtown 1, Arts & Business 1: Karesha Carridis tied the score for the Bulls (0-0-1) in the second half and Johana Vargas made 11 saves in Queens A-V. Elyse Haddock scored to give Newtown (1-0-1) a 1-0 first half lead.

Long Island City 1, Forest Hills 1: Julia Svitsky scored for Forest Hills (0-0-1). Mianicole Drakakis had seven saves. Long Island City is 1-0-1.

Tottenville 6, Port Richmond 0: Christine Davis tallied a goal and an assist for Tottenville (2-0) in Staten Island A. She was one of six different Pirates to score. Port Richmond is 0-2.

McKee/Staten Island Tech 6, New Dorp 0: Jackie Bruno scored a hat trick and added an assist for McKee/Staten Island Tech (2-0). Samantha Cunzo added two goals. New Dorp is 1-1.

HS for Math, Science 4, Choir Academy of Harlem 0: Amira Hodes scored two goals for the Dragons (1-0) in Bronx/Manhattan B-I. Claudia Lobenthal and Sanjean Mc Laren each added a goal. Choir Academy of Harlem is 0-1.

Flushing 7, Robert Wagner 0: Melissa Lijo had a hat trick and Andrea Jimenez scored two goals for Flushing (1-0) in Queens B-V. Robert F. Wagner is 0-1.

Richmond Hill 6, Springfield Gardens 0: Ericka Flores and Erika Juarez each tallied a hat trick to lead Richmond Hill (1-0) in Queens B-VI. Springfield Gardens is 0-1.
