Police give all-clear over suspicious package at Cowboys Stadium

ARLINGTON, Texas — The area surrounding Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, was closed Friday as authorities investigated a suspicious package that turned out to be nothing but trash.

Police said someone threw a package into a storm drain near the stadium, which will host Super Bowl XLV on Feb. 6 between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers.

Multiple law enforcement officials were on the scene and nearby roads were closed. A member of the bomb squad, clad in protective clothing, was peering into a manhole in a traffic island in the middle of the street around 8:30am local time.

Super Bowl preparations went on as usual inside the stadium, and no one was evacuated.
