Lohan to be charged in necklace theft: report

Lindsay Lohan will be charged with felony grand theft in the case of the missing $2,500 necklace, which the actress claimed was loaned to her by a Los Angeles boutique, sources connected with the case told TMZ today.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney will file the charges, possibly as early as Monday, sources added. If convicted, she could face a maximum sentence of three years in state prison.

The high-end store, Kamofie & Company, allegedly has surveillance video that shows Lohan in the store on January 22 wearing the necklace. Then days later in paparazzi shots of the headline-grabbing actress, Lohan is seen wearing the same necklace.

Police obtained a search warrant to search Lohan’s home on February 1 but the jewelry was returned to police, by Lohan’s stylist, later that day before a search could be conducted.

Lohan, 24, claims the necklace was loaned to her and that she returned the posh bijou to her stylist — who was responsible for returning it to the boutique, according to the celebrity website.

“It’s bullsh*t … I don’t have any necklace,” the troubled actress told friends in answer to claims she stole the pricey piece, according to the report.

“I didn’t have any part in the non-returning on time,” the actress said according to sources.

The case could cause trouble for Lohan, who is currently on probation and remains subject to random drug testing after her January 3 release from the Betty Ford Center. She entered rehab after testing positive for cocaine while on probation for a 2007 DUI case.

In October 2010, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Elden Fox warned the “Mean Girls” actress that any slip-ups while she was on probation would land her behind bars for at least six months.
