Child who went missing at FAO Schwarz found

A 12 year-old Canadian boy who went missing earlier today while shopping with his family at FAO Schwarz toy store in Manhattan has been found unharmed, police on the scene said.

He was located on 46th Street and 7th Avenue, sources said.

He was taken to Midtown North police precinct last night around 6:15 p.m. — four hours after his panicked folks reported him missing.

The child appeared shaken when entering the station, accompanied by a blond woman who appeared to be his mother, a man, and three small boys.

The missing child — whose disappearance sparked a massive police mobilization in Midtown — might have wandered off on his own accord, police said.

Cops feared the worse initially because he was spotted leaving the store with someone other than his parents.

It’s unclear what happened, although there was speculation that he left the store around the same time as someone else, who just appeared to be with him.

His parents reported him missing around 2:12 p.m.

Police immediately swarmed the area, and helicopters circled over Central Park, apparently searching for the child. The NYPD canine unit was dispatched to the toy store, which remained open as of this evening.
