OWN gets sued

Oprah Winfrey’s upstart OWN cable network is facing its first lawsuit.

An ex-OWN employee who suffers from multiple sclerosis is suing the company for creating a “hostile work environment.”

Catherine Dunn, 57, who began working as an assistant at OWN in August 2008, claims she had to take a leave because her MS symptoms “were exacerbated because of the workplace stress,” according to TMZ.com.

Dunn also claims her position was filled by a “non-disabled and younger employee,” and she’s suing for wrongful termination and seeking unspecified damages.

OWN is scheduled to launch in January as a partnership between Winfrey and Discovery Communications.
