Final Craigslist chiller

Craigslist killer Philip Markoff scrawled his ex-fiancée’s name in blood on his jail-cell wall before committing suicide exactly a year and a day after they were supposed to be wed, sources said last night.

Next to the word “Megan” — for beautiful Megan McAllister of New Jersey — Markoff also bizarrely wrote “pocket,” although it was unclear why, the law-enforcement sources told ABC News.

“[Megan’s] name was in a prominent place in the cell,” one source said.

The creepy revelation came as chilling new details emerged about how the medical-student-turned-monster killed himself with surgical precision over the weekend.

First, Markoff shaved down a small piece of metal — either from a ballpoint pen or the casing of an electrical outlet — until it was as sharp as a scalpel.

Then he used the blade to make incisions in arteries he knew would maximize blood loss — in his neck, wrist and legs.

He completed the macabre operation on himself by tying a clear plastic bag from the jail commissary around his head and stuffing toilet paper down his throat to accelerate suffocation and thwart jailers who might try to revive him.

Before dying, he completely covered himself with a blanket.

Jail guards “pulled the cover back, and it was a bloodbath,” one source told ABC.

Markoff, who was to stand trial in March for the murder of a Manhattan masseuse he met on Craigslist, hadn’t responded for breakfast, but that didn’t raise red flags, authorities said.

He regularly blew off his morning meal. Guards believed that he considered himself “superior” and didn’t want to mingle with other inmates.

Defense lawyer John Salsberg said Markoff liked staying in his cell to enjoy the air-conditioning.

“His family is heartbroken and devastated by his suicide,” Salsberg said.

Markoff and McAllister had been set to get hitched Aug. 14, 2009.

He had tried to commit suicide in jail twice before.

McAllister’s dad yesterday insisted that his daughter is attending medical school in the Caribbean and that he hasn’t been able to reach her.

“We’re very saddened by this,” Jim McAllister said at the family home in Little Silver, NJ.

“She’s very busy right now with medical school. Her life is 24/7 [with school work]. We tried to get hold of her, but we couldn’t.”

A lawyer for the mom of Markoff victim Julissa Brisman blasted the killer.

“First, he took their daughter from them. Then, he denied [the] opportunity [of a trial] for them,” said the lawyer, Djuna Perkins.
