This week’s couple:The write stuff!

Kristina, a 25-year-old social media consultant, found Jeremy, a 26-year-old writer, to be a refreshing break from the guys she usually dates. Over shared tapas at Lower East Side hot spot Stanton Social, she was happily surprised to be talking authors rather than sports. But was Jeremy’s literary prowess enough to write a happy ending?

He said:

When Kristina arrived, she was wearing a white dress and looked radiant.

We started talking right away about New England, since we both grew up there. Kristina came dangerously close to insulting my beloved New Hampshire, but it was all light-hearted and I let it slide because she was funny and articulate.

We have a lot in common: We’re both self-employed, motivated and curious about trying new things. Kristina has a magnetic personality, and I enjoyed her company. She has real depth, and that’s cool. Plus, when a girl claims Ernest Hemingway as a favorite author, I’m all ears.

At the end of the evening she gave me her number. I will call her for sure.

She said:

Seeing Jeremy, at first I was a bit surprised. I don’t know what I was expecting, but it wasn’t him. I guess I assumed he’d be a bit more of the “sports guy” type I usually date. Instead, I got a sleek writer.

That said, chatting seemed to be one of Jeremy’s natural skills. He quickly found out lots of information about my past. We both love the outdoors and literature, so conversation flowed simply and easily, and he made me laugh multiple times. I enjoyed the change of pace and character from the normal guys I go out with — sports metaphors were replaced with talk of Faulkner and Hemingway.

I think Jeremy is a great guy, but I’m still not sure he’s exactly what I’m looking for. That being said, I’m open to being wrong, so I gave him my number.
