Evernote has info of note

For today’s business traveler, keeping track of e-mailed itineraries, online hotel reservations, paper receipts and business cards often requires quite a bit of organization to juggle all these bits of information.

Even if you’re stuck at your desk, working on a deal, legal brief or some other project, you’re typically relying on your notes, Internet research and information from e-mails and conversations.

If only there were a centralized database to help you organize this diverse, multimedia content. Evernote lets you create and organize notes consisting of your own typed ideas, information from Web sites, photos, voice recordings and PDFs.

You can use Evernote’s Web site or download the more feature-rich desktop or mobile app to your computer or smartphone. With every version, you can type up your ideas, save portions of Web sites (just select the text you want and hit the “Web clipper” button) and upload photos, audio recordings and PDFs.

You can even send messages from Twitter or e-mail into your Evernote database, but the latter involves a complicated address you’ll need to add to your contacts. The mobile app also lets you record your own audio, from meetings or important conversations, and take pictures — of receipts or business cards, for instance.

Every piece of information exists as its own note, somewhat frustrating for those looking to integrate assorted content into one file, but you can store similar notes in topic-specific notebooks and search across various notebooks. With the iPad and iPhone app, you can even view your notes by where they were created, helpful for the aforementioned road warrior.

The service also supports and can translate your notes into several languages, including Spanish, French, German, Japanese and Russian, a useful feature in today’s global economy.

Evernote’s free version includes all of the above features, but the $45-a-year premium version lets you attach spreadsheets (or any other file) and upload lots of high-resolution photos (thanks to extra storage space) and promises a fast response from tech support. These business-friendly components make the premium seem like a necessity, particularly if you really want to keep it together.
