Alleged IMF sex-attack victim set to go before grand jury

The IMF chief’s alleged sex-attack victim is set to testify before a grand jury about the incident.

“She’s prepared to do whatever she’s asked to do,” her attorney, Jeffrey Shapiro, said in an interview today.

Shapiro, on NBC’s “Today” show, said the 32-year-old West African immigrant already is aiding the NYPD and district attorney in their investigation.

The attorney described the woman as being “in a whirlwind” since the alleged attack by Dominique Strauss-Kahn at the Sofitel hotel Saturday.

“This is a woman who is a rape victim, a victim of a physical assault, who since this has taken place and since she reported it to the hotel has not had a moment of peace,” Shapiro said.

She’s now in what he described a “safe place” reunited with her 15-year-old daughter, he said.

She’s also scared, he added.

“She came from a part of the world where laws where few and far between,” he said, adding that only the powerful enjoyed legal protection.

So when she found out that her alleged attacker was a powerful person, she began to fear “fears not only for herself but more importantly her daughter,” he said.

The woman didn’t realize the identity of her alleged attacker until the next day, he said.
