‘Samaritan’ in Bx. rape arrested

A woman visiting from North Carolina was raped, tied up and robbed in her Bronx hotel room by a thug who had volunteered to show her the way back there from Manhattan, authorities said yesterday.

The woman, 33, chose the wrong stranger to ask for directions to the Howard Johnson Express Inn after getting off a subway train at the Union Square station early Wednesday, according to police.

He accompanied her to the hotel, on Boston Road near the Botanical Garden, at about 3:30 a.m.

She said she went into her room alone but that he knocked on the door minutes later and pushed his way in.

He choked her, disrobed her and raped her while warning, “Shut up! Don’t say anything!” law-enforcement sources said.

Then he bound her, grabbed $50, a cellphone and a pair of earrings and fled, the sources said.

She called 911.

Ivan Jones, 27, of The Bronx, was arrested after being identified by a tipster.

He was charged with rape, robbery, strangulation and assault.
