Man jumps to death from George Washington Bridge

A man jumped to his death today from the George Washington Bridge, law enforcement sources said.

The 35-year-old leapt from the south sidewalk of the span at about 1 p.m. and landed on the rocky shoreline below near the landmarked Little Red Light House on the Manhattan side in Washington Heights.

The victim — who was not immediately identified — was pronounced dead at the scene.

His death is not believed to be related to a motor vehicle accident, which happened on the bridge about the same time.
