Construction worker hurt at WTC site

An iron worker at the 3 World Trade Center construction site was rushed to the hospital this afternoon after a beam fell on him, authorities said.

The injured man was on the job at Cortlandt and Church streets at 1:50 pm when he was hit by the beam, sources said.

The victim — who was not immediately identified — was taken to Bellevue Hospital. The extent of the injuries was unclear, but he is not expected to die, a source added.

Last month a crane knocked a 24-ton steel truss into the side of 4 World Trade Center, raining shattered glass down upon the sidewalk below — just one day after a worker was impaled by rebar at the site.

In February, a crane operating at the site dumped a 35-ton bundle of steel beams 400 feet onto the street below, but no one was hurt.
