Lifesaver in action

Three cheers for MTA bus driver Steven St. Bernard — whose timely catch of a 7-year-old girl from a third-story window almost certainly saved her life.

By now, thousands have seen this Good Samaritan in action; his feat was captured on a cellphone video.

Arriving home at the Coney Island Houses, he saw young Keyla McCree perched tenuously on top of an air-conditioner outside her apartment window.

The youngster, who is autistic, seemed oblivious to the threat; then she fell.

But St. Bernard made a dramatic shoe-string catch of the girl before she could hit the concrete.

Keyla was unhurt, while St. Bernard suffered a torn tendon in his arm — in context, a small price to pay.

Keyla’s mother calls the 52-year-old St. Bernard “an angel,” but he insists that “anyone would have done it.”

Maybe so, though we have our doubts.

Still, not everyone could have done it.

So take a bow, Steven St. Bernard.

You earned one.
