Drama Mama

Lifting her ban on all things comedic, Mama checks out where funny people are popping up this week on TV:

“Louie” (Thursday, 10:30 p.m., FX)

The best depressing comedy since the original British version of “The Office” gets even better this week when Louie (Louis C.K.) takes the advice of his adorable daughters and seeks a girlfriend, played by Parker Posey. And as usual, C.K. brings out the best of the worst in his guest stars in this two-parter when his seemingly perfect date spirals out of control.

“Gravity Falls” (Friday, 9:30 p.m., Disney Channel)

Stifler’s Mom, er, Jennifer Coolidge, gets top billing as a guest star on this caper cartoon set in the spooky Pacific Northwest town. (But aren’t they all?) However, if you take the time to scroll through the credits, you’ll also find Alfred Molina, who lends his voice to a giant talking bear that Dipper (Jason Ritter) encounters amid his quest for manliness. And just in case you were wondering what happened to Lindsay from “Freaks and Geeks,” her portrayer, Linda Cardellini, gets to play a cool teen here.

“Perception” (Monday, 10 p.m., TNT)

Enlightening the wacky professor (Eric McCormack) this week are a couple of guys who’ve made dramedies funnier over the years: Dan Lauria, better known as Kevin’s dad on “The Wonder Years,” and Armin Shimerman, a k a Principal Snyder from “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” Also on the guest list are Pamela Reed, who most recently played mom to Amy Poehler’s Leslie Knope on “Parks & Rec,” and Sheryl Lee, who will always trigger “Laura’s Theme” as the original Northwest teen-girl murder victim who’s mystery went on too long. (That’s “Twin Peaks” for all you suckers who stuck with “The Killing” for both seasons.)

“Franklin & Bash” (Tuesday, 10 p.m., TNT)

Despite a string of guest-starring roles on various dramas, Anne Ramsay has remained Jamie’s (Helen Hunt) spacey sister Lisa from “Mad About You.” This week, she’s a widow fighting to save her late hubby’s corpse from a human body exhibit, the latest outlandish case to land on the desks of the cartoonish Peter (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) and Jared (Breckin Meyer).
