“Anchorman” actor Fred Willard has been busted for going where Pee-Wee Herman has gone before.
The well-known 72-year-old character actor — who appeared in comedies from “This is Spinal Tap” to “Best in Show” — was nabbed by vice officers at about 9 p.m. Wednesday inside a cheap Hollywood dirty-movie joint called the Tiki Theater: Adult XXX.
Willard was allegedly spotted by cops who routinely patrol Tinseltown’s blue-movie venues and was charged with committing a lewd act in public.
He was released early yesterday morning without having to post bail.
After news of the charges surfaced, Willard was dumped by the Boston public TV station WGBH from his job narrating the show “Market Warriors.”
According to the Web site IMDB, Willard’s next scheduled release is “The Yank.”
