Solo on tweet rant: hashtag #notsorry

MANCHESTER, England — The U.S. women’s soccer team can take a jab as well as it dishes ’em out, Twitter-style.

Goalkeeper Hope Solo didn’t back down yesterday from her Twitter outburst against NBC analyst Brandi Chastain, a retired U.S. team star.

“It’s not about what made me unhappy,” Solo said at historic Old Trafford, site of today’s game against North Korea. “It’s not about one game. … You can take it or leave it, to be honest, so it’s my opinion, and I think analysts and commentators should bring energy and excitement and passion for the game, and a lot of knowledge … and I don’t think Brandi has that.”

Meanwhile, FIFA imposed a two-match ban on Colombia’s Lady Andrade after U.S. forward Abby Wambach said she was “sucker-punched” in the right eye by Andrade in the 39th minute of Saturday’s win.

After the game, Wambach called for FIFA to take action and tweeted a photo of her black eye. Andrade said it was “an accident” then complained about calls going in the Americans’ favor.
