NYPD IDs Twitter user who threatened ‘Aurora-style’ on B’way theater

Police have identified the Twitter user who threatened to unleash an “Aurora-style” attack on a Broadway theater, said Police Commissioner Ray Kelly in a press conference today.

“We are talking [to] and will [be] interviewing that person. That person is not in New York City. Of course, there’s always the possibility someone else was using someone’s account. So we’re conducting the investigation,” Kelly said.

Twitter initially turned down the NYPD’s request for the identity of the user, but relented after the Manhattan DA’s Office subpoenaed the micro-blogging website.

If arrested the twithead, who goes by the handle @obamasmistress, is possibly facing charges of reckless endangerment or reckless statement, Kelly said.
