America’s missing jobs: A promise unfulfilled

The Issue: Whether President Obama’s policies have helped or hindered economic growth.

It’s easy to see why President Obama is such a failure in rebuilding this nation’s economy (“O’s Mission Failure,” John Podhoretz, Post-Opinion, Aug. 3).

He not only lacks experience in the business world, but his flawed policies have focused on job prevention through needless over-regulation and his insistence on creating “green” jobs, which have been an expensive failure at home and abroad.

Obama promised “shovel-ready jobs” when he spent almost a trillion dollars on the “stimulus.”

Where are the jobs? Where is the trillion? Gone with the wind.

If Obama’s failed efforts to stir up jobs and get the economy moving in the right direction aren’t bad enough, we now have the male counterpart of Sarah Palin as his opponent.

We have to decide between Obama, the consummate lecturer, or Mitt Romney, a man whose demeanor is so stiff and robotic, watching paint dry is more stimulating. We are in trouble, folks.

Obama claims he knows that small businesses are the backbone of our economy, but he has never started a business — he’s never even invested in a start-up.

However, he has taken every opportunity to increase regulatory complexity and to arbitrarily enforce regulations that punish business owners.

As a result, the birth rate of new businesses has declined steadily and is now essentially at zero. As a small-business owner, my choice is clear — I’m supporting a vacation for Obama.

When will Republicans realize the economic numbers are controlled by their worst enemies — the current administration?

The economic indicators will improve dramatically over the next few months.

When improvements are reported, they will whine that the numbers are fake. Too late. The basis of their entire campaign will be gone.
