Grammy-winning country-music star Randy Travis has been hit with a drunk rap — again — and this time it was after a Texas state trooper found him lying naked in a road.
The singer was released on $21,500 bond yesterday after authorities said he threatened to kill troopers investigating the case. He walked barefoot out of the Grayson County Jail wearing scrubs and a University of Texas cap.
Investigators said Travis, known for hits like “He Walked on Water,” was arrested late Tuesday near his hometown of Tioga, north of Dallas, after his Pontiac Trans Am crashed into highway construction barriers.
“He was not clothed at the time,” Sheriff’s Sgt. Rickey Wheeler said.
A representative for Travis, 53, refused comment.
Travis was charged with public intoxication in February after being spotted in a vehicle parked in front of a church in Sanger, 20 miles from Tioga.
