SI pol’s ex-money man in immig bust

A former fund-raiser for Staten Island Rep. Michael Grimm has been busted by the FBI on charges of lying on immigration documents, according to an FBI spokesperson.

A criminal complaint filed by the Brooklyn US Attorney’s Office charges that Israeli citizen Ofer Biton made false statements about the source of $400,000 he loaned to a company as part of a entrepreneurial visa program administered by the US government.

Biton, who is not employed by Grimm’s congressional operation or campaign staff, is considered a major cog in the politician’s fund-raising machine and has raised roughly $500,000 for him.

Coincidentally, Biton also is being investigated by the feds for his links to the powerful “Rabbi to the stars” Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto, whose devotees reportedly include members of Congress, real-estate big shots and NBA superstar LeBron James.

Biton has been at the center of an investigation into allegations that millions of dollars were embezzled from Pinto’s nonprofit organization.

Grimm, who was not available for comment, has said on previous instances that he denies any wrongdoing related to Biton or his fund-raising tactics.
