Former LSU football star Tyrann Mathieu has entered a drug rehabilitation program in Houston since being dismissed last week from the team, according to his adoptive father.

Tyrone Mathieu said the 20-year-old cornerback and punt returner known as the “Honey Badger” has been at the Right Step recovery center and is being counseled by former NBA player John Lucas.

SOCCER: Ogunbiyi, Red Bulls split

The Red Bulls and defender Babajide Ogunbiyi have agreed to part ways.

The team announced the move yesterday, citing undisclosed concerns about the player’s physical condition.

GM Erik Soler said Ogunbiyi took a physical after being signed in late July and the team had some concerns. After consulting a number of doctors, the team decided to let him go.

U.S. international Clint Dempsey has refused to play for Fulham and is seeking a transfer to a Champions League team.
