Bitsie Tulloch had a five-week hiatus between the first and second seasons of filming “Grimm,” where she plays Juliette Silverton, the fiancee of Det. Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli). The NBC drama, which returned Aug. 13, received an early pickup last year — thrilling news for Tulloch and Giuntoli, who co-starred in “Caroline and Jackie,” which opened at the Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year.
Tulloch, 31, came late to acting, but she’s making up for lost time, having already co-starred in last year’s Oscar winner, “The Artist.”
She spoke to The Post from her home in Portland, Ore., where “Grimm” films.
Q: What did you do in your five weeks off?
A: I had eye surgery. I was so blind. I had an implantable permanent contact lens put under my iris. Kind of crazy to be so blind for my entire life and wake up and see things.
Q: Do you like going to Comic-Con with all the geeks?
A: I loved them. We went last year and premiered the show. To come back after having a successful first season, I turned to David on the panel and said, “This is so magical.”
Q: How did you get the name Bitsie?
A: It was the nickname of my grandfather, Walter Scott Tulloch, a bomber pilot in the Korean War and WWII. When I first moved to LA and really pursued the acting business, I decided to stick with it.
Q: What was it like working on “The Artist”?
A: Jean Dujardin is the French George Clooney. Super-charming. Debonair. At that point, he wasn’t speaking a lot of English. And I don’t speak French. It was kind of like playing charades when we were sitting acting stuff out.
