‘Top Gun’ director kills self

Tony Scott, director of such Hollywood blockbusters as “Top Gun,” ‘‘Days of Thunder” and “Beverly Hills Cop II,” died yesterday after jumping from a Los Angeles County Bridge, authorities said.

British-born Scott, 68, was producer/director Ridley Scott’s younger brother.

His death was being investigated as a suicide.

Scott jumped from the Vincent Thomas Bridge spanning San Pedro and Terminal Island in LA at around noon.

The waters where he jumped are so murky, divers needed to use sonar to find and recover the body.

US Coast Guard Lt. Jennifer Osburn said that a suicide note was found inside Scott’s black Toyota Prius, which was parked on one of the eastbound lanes of the bridge, according to the Daily Breeze. While never considered as successful as his older brother, Scott was a prolific television producer and was the driving force behind the hit CBS crime drama “Numb3rs”
