Solo no more

‘Live With Kelly” is finally ready to unveil its new co-host — nearly a year after Regis Philbin left the syndicated morning show.

Kelly Ripa posted a video on tout.com yesterday in which she announced that “Live” will announce her new co-host Sept. 4 (she’ll host the show solo on Sept. 3).

“Hey guys, big news,” she said. “It’s been an exciting season here at ‘Live,’ but the time has come to mark your calendars. On Sept. 4, I’ll be joined by my new co-host.”

The video appeared to have been shot on the “Live” set.

Since Philbin left last Nov. 18, “Live” has used a rotating roster of co-hosts to sit opposite Ripa — including gap-toothed ex-Giants star Michael Strahan, who’s been the most prolific co-host, logging the most appearances opposite Ripa.

Strahan’s visibility on “Live” has many thinking he’s Philbin’s likely heir.

Adding fuel to the fire are reports that Strahan, who’s an analyst on “Fox NFL Sunday,” has put his beachfront bachelor pad in Hermosa Beach, Calif. up for sale — asking $1.8 million for the three-bedroom, four-bathroom property, according to realtor.com.

It would be convenient for whomever ends up co-hosting “Live” if they had place in New York City, since the show airs from the ABC studios at 7 Lincoln Square (on West 67th).

Saturday Night Live” “Weekend Update” host Seth Meyers, singers Josh Groban and Nick Lachey, and actor Jerry O’Connell have also been mentioned as possible permanent co-hosts.

Since Philbin’s departure, ratings for “Live” have remained relatively steady.

Last season, when Philbin was still the full-time co-host, “Live” averaged about 3.4 million viewers.

That’s roughly the same number of viewers the show has averaged this season-to-date through Aug. 5 (including the three months Philbin was still co-anchoring), according to Nielsen.

Ripa, 41, joined Philbin on “Live” in 2001, after Kathie Lee Gifford’s departure the previous summer.

Other co-hosts who’ve sat in since Philbin’s departure last fall include Neil Patrick Harris, Ripa’s husband, Mark Consuelos, NY1’s Pat Kiernan (for a full week), Jerry Seinfeld, “Dancing With the Stars” judge Carrie Ann Inaba and Kristin Chenoweth.
