Sitting pretty in Queens

A colorful new neighbor has taken up roost in Queens.

The mystery peacock pictured here has been on the loose in Kew Gardens for more than a week — perching on rooftops, posing for photos and leaving puzzled residents asking where the blue-plumed visitor came from.

“I heard peacocks were mean birds, but this guy has just been hanging out,” said Isaac Matayab, 18.

Residents say the wayward fowl started hanging around near Jewel Avenue and Main Street about 10 days ago.

Some called the cops, who declined to take the bird into custody yesterday.

“They said he is not dangerous,” said Israel Kakuriez, 37.

Many think the bird flew in from the nearby Queens Botanical Gardens, while others guess it may have escaped from the Central Park Zoo.

Neither facility was able to comment late last night.
