Billy Crystal returns to TV on FX

Billy Crystal’s return to series television has been confirmed, according to DeadlineHollywood.com. FX has given a 13-episode order to ‘The Comedians,” which pairs Crystal, everyone’s favorite Oscar host, with Josh Gadd (“1600 Penn”) as two comics working on the same late-night sketch comedy show.

Like almost any series worth watching these days. “The Comedians” is based on a Swedish original — in this case “Ulveson and Herngren.”  Crystal wrote the pilot script with “Burn Notice” creator Matt Nix, Larry Charles (“Curb Your Enthusiasm), and Ben Wexler.

“The Comedians” will mark Crystal’s first TV series in over 30 years, since the ABC hit “Soap.”
