Chapman parole bid

It’s unimaginable!

A parole board could decide this week whether John Lennon’s killer should be released from prison.

Mark David Chapman is scheduled to be interviewed by members of the board as early as Tuesday, according to New York Department of Corrections spokeswoman Linda Foglia.

A decision on his fate may come by Friday, she said.

Chapman fatally shot Lennon in December 1980 outside the Dakota apartment building where the former Beatle lived with Yoko Ono.

Chapman was sentenced in 1981 to 20 years to life in prison after pleading guilty.

He was transferred in May from the Attica Correctional Facility in western New York to the nearby Wende Correctional Facility. Both are maximum security.

In September 2010 he was denied parole for the sixth time.
