Brave cyclists foil bike-stealing bandit

A bike-stealing bandit was foiled by two brave bicyclists who came to a fellow rider’s aid near the Williamsburg Bridge in the Lower East Side, police said.

The drama started on the span’s footpath at around 2:30 p.m. Monday when the suspect (pictured here) grabbed the handlebars of a 28-year-old cyclist and forced him off his bike, police added.

As the thief pedaled toward Delancey Street, two other cyclists chased him down and were eventually able to get back the boosted bike, police said.

The heroes on two wheels were also able to snap a cell phone pic of the perp, which they gave to investigators.

Anyone with information on the suspect’s identity or whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
