Donte Greene will soon be the latest player to join the Nets, as their massive roster overhaul this summer continues.
The 6-foot-11 forward tweeted, “HELLO BROOKLYN” along with a picture of the Nets logo inside the team’s facility in Brooklyn yesterday. That came shortly after Yahoo! Sports reported the Nets had agreed in principle with Greene. A league source said the deal will be non-guaranteed.
Greene’s agent, Chris Luchey, told The Post it was premature to say a deal had been signed, but that all signs point to Greene officially joining the Nets in the near future.
Greene will be the eighth new player — out of 14 currently on the roster — to join the team since last season ended.
When the move is completed, Greene will give the Nets a young, viable small forward to play behind Gerald Wallace. Backup small forward was one of two remaining areas of need on the roster, along with backup center.
Greene played in 53 games, including seven starts, for Sacramento last season, and finished with averages of 5.4 points and 2.5 rebounds in 14.7 minutes per game.
The 24-year-old has averages of 6.1 points and 2.4 rebounds over the course of his four-year NBA career, all with the Kings, after leaving Syracuse after one year to enter the 2008 NBA Draft.
