NY ‘celeb’ terror summit

ALBANY — It’ll be a star-studded “emergency” meeting.

Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, national security analyst Peter Bergen and a Norwegian deputy police chief who responded to last year’s deadly terrorist attacks in Oslo are scheduled to be in Albany on Oct. 29 and 30 for an “Emergency Preparedness Summit” that Gov. Cuomo is planning.

State officials said 3,000 emergency-response officials from across New York are expected to join Cuomo for the two-day summit, which will focus on natural disasters and terrorism.

Cuomo’s top emergency-management aide, Jerome Hauer, said the aim is to get away from the Federal Emergency Management Agency “dogma” of planning for all hazards, and instead prepare responders for the worst catastrophes.
