Feds nix bid by DSK maid

The feds are refusing to hand over evidence sought by the hotel maid whose rape-attempt allegations led to the downfall of former International Monetary Fund chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn.

Court papers filed yesterday say lawyers for Nafissatou Diallo served a subpoena on Immigration and Customs Enforcement last month as part of her civil lawsuit against the disgraced French politician.

Prosecutors will seek to quash the subpoena based on “federal law and the sovereign immunity of the United States government,” according to the Manhattan federal court filing.

The subpoena seeks records that include audiotapes and transcripts of Diallo’s May 15, 2011, phone conversations with Amara Tarawally, an illegal alien from Sierra Leone, one day after Diallo accused DSK of attacking her in his suite at the Midtown Sofitel hotel.

Tarawally — who has identified himself as Diallo’s fiancé — was being held in a federal detention facility in Arizona pending deportation proceedings.

Published reports have said Diallo mentioned DSK’s wealth in the conversations, but her lawyers say that’s not so.
